How CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS Learn
Written by: Jo Jo Blackburn
Parenting a child with special needs will be the greatest challenge of your life and it can be the most rewarding as you watch them accomplish what the doctors said they couldn't.
A child is more than their symptoms. Most "hopeless cases" aren't hopeless, you just have to find out how the child takes in, processes and responds to information from their world.
At the top of this page is a button that takes you directly to a developmental milestone chart. One thing to remember when using this is to ignore the age. Just use the list itself. The reason for this is your looking for the skills they have mastered and what they need to master. This is one of the main observation tool I used when assessing the children I worked with. My methods are different, but I had success with them.
